About Us
In 2022, while Garrett and Sean were volunteering their time painting for the community, the exciting idea of re-launching Van Den Berg Painting was sparked. The rest, as the saying goes, is history!
Van Den Berg Painting was founded in 1979 in Lakeview, Oregon, by Dan Van Den Berg, who is Garrett's grandfather. It was later handed down to Vickie and Harvey Childress, Garrett's parents. Today, the company is proudly in its third generation, now owned by Garrett Childress, Sean Hickey, and Cole Damuth.
Garrett Childress was raised in a world of painting alongside his grandfather and later his parents. After a 13-year stint in the corporate sphere, where he most recently held the position of Divisional Vice President for a national foodservice company, he followed his heart back to Lakeview, Oregon to rejuvenate Van Den Berg Painting with his family. His deep passion lies in both his family and enhancing the beauty of his community. Additionally, his children represent the 8th generation of their family in Lake County.
Sean Hickey has dedicated 14 years to working as a lineman for two separate organizations; it’s safe to say he’s our expert in heights. He holds a deep affection for the Lakeview, Oregon community and draws support from his wonderful family. Sean hails from a lineage rich in hard work, with roots in farming, ranching, and heavy equipment.
Cole Damuth became a co-owner of Van Den Berg Painting in 2025. He comes from a diverse professional background, which includes construction, wildland fire management, lineman work, UPS, and owning a coffee shop in Texas. His strong leadership skills and dedicated work ethic make him an ideal partner for Van Den Berg Painting. Cole's connections to our community are deep, and his heart has always been in Lakeview. He is supported by his wife Teddianne and their children, Bodie and Baylor.
